RE: EXTENSION OF INSURANCE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Weld County is protected self-insured for
property, casualty, liability, and health insurance, and
WHEREAS, the administration of the self-insurance programs
have been for three-year terms, and
WHEREAS, the current insurance market for governmental
entities is considered a "hard market" due to decreased capacity
of insurors, and
WHEREAS, after evaluating the insurance market, insurance
loss history, consulting with other counties, and consulting
with the insurance administrators, the Board of County
Commissioners has concluded it would be in Weld County' s best
interest to extend current coverages and programs with the
current insurance administrators, and
WHEREAS, the current insurance administrators are agreeable
to extending the current plans for another three-year term.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County hereby authorizes the current
self-insurance programs to be extended for a three year period
with an annual review, with the current third party
administrators of Arthur J. Gallagher/Gallagher Bassett, and
James Benefits/Shirazi and Associates.
