Dear Ms. Dudley:
Enclosed is the information you requested regarding the Veeman Dairy
at 23805 Weld County Road 7.
I think it is important that you know this was an existing dairy
purchased by the Veeman's. That there has been no expansion of the
existing milking facilities or thei:Tens.
The Veeman 's built the additional holding pond only to improve the
total operation of the dairy. The new pond will allow them to more
efficiently utilize the liquids on the additional 83 acres they
purchased with the dairy.
I have tried to contact Mr. Bud Mann numerous times, but we keep
missing each other. I would be most happy to meet with Mr. Mann
at his convenience should he desire to inspect the new holding pit.

Answers to Questions Letter of 2/1/84
1, See attached construction diagram by Aden Construction Co. ,
Johnstown, Colorado (Engineers and Surveyors)
2. Total acreage that covers pens, loafing sheds, feed bunks,
alley ways for feed trucks, milking parlor and office.
806' x 915x = 737,490 sq. ft. = 16.93 acres.
3. Total acreage that drains into ponds.
75% of drainage is from milking parlor down concrete alley
used by feed trucks. Which is 24' wide, 750 ' long 018,000
sq. ft. . 25% of any run-off would come from approximately
10 acres which would be created by rain. Soils are quite
sandy with good pirkulation.
4. All watering devices are automatic with no water volumes
going to ponds.
5. Nearest state waters, showing on Weld County map, would be
Little Thompson river, 3i miles to the south, Hummel Reservoir
and Newell Lake 22 and 3i miles south west of the property.
Drainage from Veeman Dairy could not reach the above because
topography of the area. The entire acreage is dry land.
(103 acres)
The closed irrigated areas would be east of I25 which is 1
mile east of the Veeman property.

Dear Mr. Billings:
The District Engineer for Weld County, Clarence Mahn, referred your
request on the Veeman Dairy to the Permits and Enforcement Section on
January 23, 1984. In order for us to complete a review of the holding
ponds, we will need the following additional information.
1. The holding ponds side and end slopes.
2. The pen area acreage.
3. The total acreage that drains into the ponds.
4. Any other process water which drains to the ponds (trough water,
etc. ) and the volumes.
5. The nearest state waters (stream, lake, irrigation ditch, canal
etc. )
We will complete our review once we have this additional information. If
you have any questions, please contact this office at extension 3740.

comment on the proposal.
