It formed in calcareous loamy alluvium. Typically, the surface layer is grayish brown clay loam 8 inches thick. The subsoil is clay loam 14 inches thick. The substratum to a depth of 60 inches or more is calcareous clay loam. In some areas the surface layer is loam. Included in this unit are small areas of Aver fine sandy loam and Manzanola clay loam.
