The Aid to Families with Dependent Children caseload increased by 53 households over the December, 1979 count. Approximately 30 "striker" households qualified for-AFDC benefits under federal regulations during January. Conversely, the Food Stamp caseload declined slightly as some striker families who qualified in December did not qualify for January benefits due to return to employment. Expenditures (excluding Old Age Pension and Food Stamps) were $622,907. This amount was $2,315 higher than the previous month and $52,632 higher than the same month in 1979. Although AFDC expenditures for January were slightly over budget, total expenditures for all regular programs remained within budget allocation for the month. 800709 Page 2 Weld County Caseload Status as of January 31, 1980 The Department provided over $400,000 in payments to current public assistance and Food Stamp recipients at the end of the month under the federal Energy Assistance Program. In addition, as of February 8, the Department has expended approximately $67,000 in payments to utility companies and other "energy" vendors under the Energy Crisis As- sistance Program. In addition to public assistance and Food Stamp households, other low income eligible households may qualify for the ECAP program if they have a health or life-threatening crisis related to energy and'meet income guidelines. Both EAP and ECAP programs are funded by the federal government. EMcKenna:rh 2-11-80 Hello
