HomeMy WebLinkAbout800927.tiff MINUTES WELD COUNTY COUNCIL July 3, 1980 Tape 80/84 The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County Home Rule Charter at 915 Tenth Street, Greeley, Colorado, July 3, 1980, at 1:30 p.m. ROLL CALL The following members were present: Councilman Ralph Waldo, Jr., President Councilman Robert Martin, Sr. , Vice President. Councilwoman Patricia Anderson Councilman Howard Foster Councilmap Floyd Oliver Also present were two members of the press and Council secretary, Susan Elton. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Councilman Floyd Oliver made a motion to approve the minutes from the June 19, 1980 meeting of the Weld County Council as written. Councilman Robert Martin seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. REPORTS Robert Martin talked briefly about the East Eaton area. He asked that the Council request the secretary to write a letter to the County Engineer asking him what the county's commitments are for maintaining the roads and streets in East Eaton; if any. Patricia Anderson informed the Council that she has an appointment with the sheriff to discuss the county communications system. She also spoke with the office manager from the County Engineering office regarding complaints she's received on the roads east of Peckham. He said he'd check into it. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Robert Martin spoke with the District Attorney about getting a declaratory judgement regarding the length of term in office for Council members appointed to their positions. Mr. Miller requested that a letter be sent to him asking to do so and he would get back to us before the next meeting. The President called for a motion. Floyd Oliver made the motion to refer the matter to the District Attorney for further action. Howard Foster seconded the motion. Passed unanimously. Ralph Waldo talked to Bob Ray regarding the Charter provision to act by ordinance. Mr. Ray will try to have something to the Council by the next meeting. Council received another letter from Rose Mary Koob. Council requested the secretary to write Ms. Koob a letter instructing her to contact the greivance committee and to inform her that the Council is not in a position to help her since she was a temporary part-time employee under a federal grant. Motion by Patricia Anderson, seconded by Howard Foster to dispose of this matter in this way. Passed unanimously. Anthony Jenkins Case. Council reviewed their Resolution of March 20, 1980, regarding the confidentiality of investigator's reports. The Council will sort through and determine which reports can be brought to court. All other reports will remain in the Council office files. 800927 MINUTES, County Council, page 2 July 3, 1980 NEW BUSINESS Council approved of the requisition #434 for a different typewritter for the Council Office. President Ralph Waldo signed the, requisition. The Council instructed the secretary to write to the Colorado Front Range Project Committee asking them to put us on their mailing list so we receive notification of any meetings they have and also copies of any reports they produce. The Council would like to keep up with any and all developments. ADJOURNMENT There was no further business. Upon motion made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned.
