COLORADO From Jerry Wones
subject: Med 105
With the receipt of the new ambulance and its wheels firmly
reattached, we have given MED 102 (1976 Cadillac) to Pierce.
MED 105 (1974 Cadillac) is now available for disposition. We
had discussions last year with Aims College, for use of MED 105
as a part of the EMT training program. We have also had
discussions with the Southeast Weld Fire Protection District
about the possibility of stationing MED 105 in Keenesburg.
The advantages of stationing MED 105 in Keenesburg are:
1. It will provide a back-up unit when Paramedic 3 is busy
or when there are multiple patients.
2. It will provide a way for them to carry their medical
equipment in one vehicle.
3. It will provide a means for the first responders to get
their patients into a vehicle out of the weather.
4. They will assume ownership of the vehicle and provide for
its upkeep.
5. We do have one of our paramedics living in Keenesburg,
who can be available on many occasions to improve response
times for advanced life support care.
I have talked with Aims about the possibility of our giving
MED 105 to Southeast Weld Fire Protection District, They
indicated that this would not cause them any inconvenience or
problems.
It is my recommendation that the Board transfer ownership of
MED 105 to the Southeast Weld Fire Protection District for
use as part of their first responder efforts.
