Speckman, Executive Director, Human Resources ,// subject Head Start Buildings Enclosed for Board approval is an Agreement with Macrum Building Systems, Inc. , for the moving and renovation of two new buildings for Head Start. Macrum Building Systems, Inc. , received the bid from Aims Community College for temporary buildings. Mr. Macrum is giving two 30' by 80' buildings for use in the Head Start Program. The two buildings will be located at the Head Start School . Macrum Building Systems, Inc. , will move the buildings, set them up on foundations, and complete the necessary renovation which includes building two handicap accessible bathrooms. The work will begin in early July and be completed by September 15, 1984. The cost of moving the buildings and renovations is $55,000 which will be paid to Macrum Building Systems, Inc. If you have any questions, please feel free to telephone me. 86931 f i '.ff ' ci AGREEMENT THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 2nd day of July, by and between the Weld County Board of County Commissioners on behalf of the Division of Human Resources, hereinafter referred to as "Human Resources," and Macrum Building Systems, Inc. , hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor." WITNESSETH WHEREAS, Human Resources delivers the activities of the Head Start Program, and WHEREAS, additional classroom space is necessary for the Head Start Program, and WHEREAS, the Head Start school , located at 520 13th Avenue has space available for buildings to provide the necessary classrooms, and WHEREAS, Human Resources and the Contractor have coordinated an Invitation to Bid on buildings available from Aims Community College, and WHEREAS, the Contractor received the bid for the buildings from Aims Community College, and WHEREAS, the Contractor is giving Human Resources two star steel buildings for the Head Start Program, and WHEREAS, Human Resources and the Contractor are desirous of entering into this Agreement to outline the terms and conditions for the moving and renovation of the buildings for the Head Start Program. NOW THEREFORE, it is mutually agreed upon by and between the parties as follows: I. Contractor: The Contractor will be responsible for the following: A. General 1. Relocate two 30' by 80' star steel buildings, acquired from Aims Community College to the Head Start land located at 520 13th Avenue. B. Sitework 1. Excavate necessary crawl spaces for the buildings. 2. Remove extra dirt (dirt becomes the property of the Contractor). 3. Provide necessary plans , including the plot plan required by the city (see Section II). 4. Complete final grading. C. Concrete 1. Complete necessary engineered footings and foundations. 2. Provide 4'x4'x4" concrete stoops at each walk in door. D. building Renovations (Exterior) 1. Re-side 3 80' sides with paintable 26 galvanized steel siding similar to existing siding (will not match). 2. Trim as necessary. 3. Water seal exterior walls on foundations for thermal and moisture protection. 4. Provide 1 side door to each building on west side using existing doors. E. Building Renovations (Interior) 1. Frame-in 2 restrooms back to back (one in each building) approximate size 12' x 12' . 2. Interior and exterior wall of restrooms will be covered with 1 inch drywall and taped. 3. A plastic finished type material such as marlite or similar product will be applied 4' high in each of the restrooms where required by code. 4. One handicap stall per restroom. 5. One 3/0 x 6/8 door of hollow-core mahogany will be placed in each bathroom. F. Plumbing 1. The boys' bathroom will have a standard sink, a handicap stall with a commode, a boys' urinal , and a standard commode. The girls' bathroom will have a standard sink, a handicap stall with commode, and two additional standard commodes. 2. Two additional sinks will be located outside the bathrooms in the classrooms on either side. 3. A standard non-refrigerated drinking fountain will be located outside the bathrooms. 4. Water and sewer lines will be run out of building and hooked up. 5. One 10 gallon hot water heater will be installed. 6. Two working air conditioning units will be connected. 7. Hook up of two heating units. G. Additional Requirements 1. Support columns required to support the existing floor as it currently exists. 2. Hook up of new service to buildings to existing electrical equipment to include air conditioning and heating. Installation of new electrical panels one in each building to provide up to 100 Amp service. 3. Necessary lighting and electrical outlets for the two restrooms. 4. Hook up of existing fire alarm system in the two buildings. II. Human Resources will be responsible for the following: A. Permits 1. Acquiring permits and payment of any city fees. B. Aouitional Renovations 1. Painting (interior and exterior) , gutter and down- spouts. 2. Floor repair and coverings to include restrooms. 3. Landscaping. 4. Additional fire alarm systems' hookup and fire extinguishers. III. Time Periods: The Contractor will begin work during the first week of July. The estimated completion date is September 15, 1984. IV. Payments: Human Resources will provide a total of $55,000 for the moving and renovation as specified in this Agreement. Human Resources will provide the Contractor with 25% down or $13,750 as a down payment upon signature of Agreement. One progress payment of 25% upon completion of foundation, estimated date July 20, 1984. One progress payment of 25% will be provided to the Contractor when the buildings are located at the Head Start School . The balance of the $55,000 will be provided to the Contractor upon the completion of the renovation of the buildings and the terms and conditions of this Agreement. Upon completion, the buildings will be turn-key ready. V. Assurances: The Contractor assures that the itmes that the Contractor is responsible for meet all required codes. The Contractor assures that contract work will be covered under Workmen's Compensation and other liability requirements.
