Sirs :
I have again wasted a day by having to spend time at the county building to
straighten out our property taxes. As I write this, I am also taking blood
pressure pills in an attempt to reduce my blood pressure to a normal level.
I) First of all, I do want to let you know there is some competence in the
assessor's and treasurer's office even though it is extremly difficult to
find. If it had not been for Virginia in the treasurer's office, and Georgia
0er1 in the assessor's office.. .I am sure the damage would have exceeded the amount
of the closed billing.

It is totally ridiculous that properties we have owned in excess of two years
do not show on county records. We handle in excess of 160 tax billings a year,
) and every year there are 2 or more properties we do not receive tax notices
on for one reason or another, and they end up on the tax sale.
This year was especially interesting - first of all, one of the farms we own we
received a tax notice on and paid promptly. Unknown to us until the tax sale
was advertised, they had only transferred k the farm to us, and therefore, the
other half showed up in the tax sale in the previous owner's name. Please explain
to me how they can transfer one half the farm, and not the other half. This little
mix up cost us $19.87 in interest and advertising.
Second problem: In 1979, Indianhead purchased several parcels in the Windsor area
from Darpo Construction. In 1980, we had our yearly meeting at the county building,
and everything was straightened out, and all taxes were paid. In 1981, the tax
notices came out and we paid them - then the deliquent tax notices came out, and
guess what.. .Darpo Construction is shown owing taxes...NOT TRUE. It seems someone
forgot to remove Darpo from the tax rolls even though they did bill Indianhead for
the taxes on the identical property, and were paid.
I could go on and on - there were only 11 properties this year that I had to check on,
but why bore you with details. In fact, I don't even know why I'm writing this
letter. Well, I guess I do, I am sick and tired of wasting my time every year to
straighten out my taxes, and to boot, I end up paying interest and penalties to
Weld County, and if that doesn't bother you, than I can only conclude that you
condone incompetence.

P .S. It probably isn't as bad as all that, but it sure seems like it.
