.. WHEREAS, the Highland Huskies boys wrestling team competed in the Colorado High School
°c Activities Association's Wrestling State Championships February 19 through 21 at Ball Arena in
° � Denver; and !Ii)..-/,

WHEREAS, the Huskies' performance was unlike anyother in the wrestling program's history. et'..
i # While several individual championships had been won in years past, the titles individually
won this year helped Highland earn the Class 2A team state championship — the first team € `.
�\ title for the wrestling program in school history; and
1 '. i WHEREAS, seniors Wyatt Chase and Tyler Varra earned state titles at 190 and 144 pounds, ��
'� respectively, and junior Carter Jenson earned a state title at 132 pounds. All three ti�
performances helped Highland finish with 1 1 1 points, cementing the Huskies' first-place finish ••
in a field of more than 50 other schools. Beyond athleticism, stellar coaching aided in
Highland's special season, and that effort was recognized by the Colorado High School
Activities Association, which named Jake Varra 2A Coach of the Year; and "`
,'5'- WHEREAS, winning a state championship doesn't simply happen. It's an achievement made
,+,yf possible through continued hard work and a relentlessness to never give up. The Huskies 4
showcased this, evidenced by the team improving from a fifth-place finish in 2025 to achieve >:

WHEREAS, know that this achievement speaks far beyond the talent shown on the wrestling
< mat. It's something that brings Weld County and the entire RE-9 community

accomplishment that can be attributed to the continued support of parents and coaches.
