This allows the Sheriffs Office to provide extra patrols during holidays and special events to reduce traffic fatalities in Weld County. The grant is used to offset any overtime that is spent. What options exist for the Board? The Board can choose to accept the grant application for funding or deny the request. Consequences: If we don't receive this grant money, the Sheriffs Office will not be able to provide any extra patrols without incurring overtime. Impacts: The Weld County Sheriffs Office will continue to conduct traffic stops to reduce traffic fatalities, but without dedicated extra patrols during high-risk time periods, Costs (Current Fiscal Year/Ongoing or Subsequent Fiscal Years): The Sheriffs Office is requesting grant funds in the amount of$11,250.00 this year. Recommendation: We recommend applying and accepting this grant to help make Weld County safer for the motorists on the unincorporated roadways.
