The Honorable Gabe Evans
United States House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Congressman Evans,
On behalf of the Weld County Board of Commissioners, I am writing to express our support for
the LaSalle Police Department's application for funding through the CJS Community Project
Funding.
Local law enforcement agencies serve as the front line of public safety for our residents,
businesses, and visitors. Patrol vehicles are among the most critical tools officers rely on to
respond to emergencies,conduct routine patrols,assist neighboring agencies,and maintain a
visible law enforcement presence throughout our communities.Due to the demanding nature
of police operations and the high mileage accumulated during daily service, patrol vehicles
experience significant wear and tear over time.
Many departments face increasing challenges associated with maintaining aging patrol
vehicles, including higher repair costs, mechanical reliability concerns, and potential safety risks
for officers and the public.Replacing these vehicles with modern, dependable patrol units will
strengthen operational readiness, enhance officer safety, and improve the department's ability
to respond quickly and effectively to calls for service.
Investing in updated law enforcement vehicles is an important step toward maintaining°safe
and resilient community. The proposed fleet replacement project will not only support the
dedicated officers who serve our residents, but it will also ensure that the department can
continue to provide reliable and efficient public safety services across the region.
On behalf of the residents of Weld County, we fully support the LaSalle Police Department's
efforts to secure funding for this important initiative. Thank you for your consideration of this
request and for your continued commitment to supporting public safety in our communities.
Sincerely,
Sc.tt K. James
Chair, Weld County Board of Commissioners
