Box 75800-4200 COUNTY, CO Greeley, CO 80632 March 10, 2026 The Honorable Gabe Evans United States House of Representatives Washington, D.C. 20515 Dear Congressman Evans, The Weld County Board of Commissioners is happy to provide support to the City of Fori Lupton for their work to enhance pedestrian and vehicle safety at County Road 12 (CR12) where it intersects with the Union Pacific Railway. Active warning devices at this crossing will help prevent accidents. This is especially important to improve safety for children who cross this active railway regularly moving to and from elementary and junior high schools. The intersection is also a heavily utilized crossing for community members heading to the City's recreation center, which is adjacent to the railway, just north of CR12. Active warning devices include a variety of tools to signal the presence of a train as it nears a community. These tools include flashing-light signals, cantilever flashing-light signals, audible warning, a crossing bell, wayside horn, automatic gates, four-quadrant gates, barrier gate, channelization with gates, barrier wall systems, wide raised medians, non-mountable curb islands and traffic separators. Community Project Funding from our federal partners will be important to expedite this project. We are hopeful you'll be able to prioritize this important project highlighted in the City's transportation plan.We appreciate your willingness to help Fort Lupton get this project done rapidly. Sincerely, )(V Scott K. James Chair, Weld County Board of Commissioners GoMNlvn , Gai- oils 2026-0565 03 /l 6/,24 Hello
