This funding will directly support the Lab's Digital Evidence section by addressing critical software and hardware needs. The Regional Crime Lab has received grant funding from ICAC for many years, and this funding is critical to the processing of digital evidence related cases associated with child sexual exploitative material. The grant will pay for two faraday bags which remove cell phones from wireless networks ensuring they can be preserved and forensically examined without risk of data alteration. The grant will also pay for two software license renewals to process digital evidence, Griffeye and Cellebrite. Both software suites assist in the processing of digital evidence which has been collected associated with ICAC related cases. These tools greatly assist in the identification of child sexual exploitative material. The grant application process was reviewed by the BOCC in August of 2025 and approved as there is no cost to the county for the acceptance of this grant. What options exist for the Board? Accept the grant funds or deny the funds. Consequences: Not accepting the funds will cost the county the amount requested to continue the support of the digital evidence unit. Impacts: There is no associated cost for the acceptance of the grant funds. Costs (Current Fiscal Year I Ongoing or Subsequent Fiscal Years): There are no ongoing cost for this grant for the county. This decision is based on OJP and OJJDP's ongoing responsibility to assist and coordinate projects that relate to the funded activities. Information requests may include, but are not limited to, specific submissions related to: performance, including measurement of project outputs/outcomes; meeting performance specifications; developmental decision points; changes in project scope or personnel; budget modifications; and/or coordination of related projects.
