Approve Regulating, Warning, and Guiding Traffic During Extension of Emergency
Temporary Closure of County Road 34 Between County Roads 31 and 33, for
Approximately an Additional Three (3) Days, for Unanticipated Delays. Due to
Emergency Operations
Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
Whereas, pursuant to C.R.S. §42-4-106(6)(a), "...local authorities, with their respective •
jurisdiction may, for the purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close
to through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion thereof for a period not
to exceed a specified number of work days for project completion and shall, in conjunction
with any such road closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
Whereas, on the 4th day of Feburary, 2026, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis
of traffic and personnel investigations, the Board determined that conditions existed which
made it necessary to temporarily close County Road 34, between County Roads 31
and 33, to through traffic on an emergency basis and to regulate, warn and guide
vehicular traffic by posting signs thereon, with said closure being effective January 30, •
2026, for approximately two (2) weeks for emergency operations, and
Whereas, on the 25th day of February, 2026, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis
of traffic and personnel investigations, the Board has determined that conditions exist
which make it necessary to extend said temporary closure, effective February 16, 2026,
for approximately an additional three (3) days through February 19, 2026, for
unanticipated delays due to emergency operations, and further, that standard official
traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn, and guide vehicular traffic on County
Roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of
such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn, and/or
guide traffic thereon for the safety of the general public and,that said traffic control devices
shall conform to the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

Be it further resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that County Road 34, between County Roads 31
and 33, be, and hereby is, extended, with said extended closure being effective
February 16, 2025, for approximately an additional three (3) days through February 19,
2026, for unanticipated delays due to emergency operations.
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, approved the above
and foregoing Resolution, on motion duly made and seconded, by the following vote on
the 25th day of February, A.D., 2026:

Weld County Public Works is requesting retroactive permission to extend the
closure on CR 34 between CR 31 and CR 33. The original closure dates were
01 /30/2026 through 02/16/2026 and have been extended to 2/19/2026 on
behalf of the Emergency Operations Center.
