Dear Tina: -
Thank you for submitting your grant proposal for the 2026 field season. This year we received
over$1 million in funding requests, however only $520,000 was available, including both Weed
Fund and U.S. Forest Service State and Private Forestry sources. This made the Grant Review
Committee's decisions very difficult due to the number of projects worthy of funding.
Priority projects for the 2026 grant cycle were as follows:
• Projects focused on List A noxious weed species, in line with the state's Early Detection
&Rapid Response strategy,
• Projects supporting noxious weed management in underfunded areas, and
• New noxious weed programs and first-time applicants.
We are pleased to inform you that the Colorado Department of Agriculture(CDA)Grant Review
Committee has selected your project, "Rush Skeletonweed Eradication Project in Weld County",
for partial funding in 2026 for an amount up to $8,000.
The highly competitive nature of proposals and the reduction in available project funding led the
committee to look very carefully at all aspects of each proposal, and almost all projects received
less than what was requested. If you would like specific feedback on your grant application and
the decisions made by the Grant Review Committee, please let us know.
