Subject: Notification of Floodplain and Floodway revisions for Little Thompson River
Notice for Parcel ID: 106123200020
Dear Property Owner:
The Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for a community depicts the floodplain, the area that has been
determined to be subject to a 1-percent or greater chance of flooding in any given year. The regulatory floodway
is the portion of the floodplain that includes the channel of a river or other watercourse and the adjacent land
area that must be reserved in order to discharge the base(1-percent-annual-chance)flood without cumulatively
increasing the water-surface elevation by more than a designated height. The FIRM is used to help the
community with floodplain management.
Muller Engineering is applying for a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) from the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) on behalf of the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to revise FIRM 08069C1415G
for the Town of Berthoud, CO, along Little Thompson River. Muller Engineering is proposing to revise the FIRM
to reflect the 1-25 bridge reconstruction and channel improvements at Little Thompson River.
The Town of Berthoud, in accordance with National Flood Insurance Program regulation at 44 CFR §65.7(b)(1),
hereby gives notice of the Town of Berthoud's intent to revise the 1-percent-annual-chance floodway,generally
located near 1-25 and CO 56. Specifically, the floodway shall be revised from a point approximately 600 feet
downstream of 1-25 and Little Thompson River to a point approximately 1,700 feet upstream of 1-25 and Little
Thompson River.
As a result of the LOMR,the regulatory floodway will widen and narrow within the area of revision.
The LOMR will also result in:
1. Decreases in the 1-percent-annual-chance water-surface elevations
2. Widening and narrowing of the 1-percent-annual-chance floodplain
This letter is to inform you of flood hazard revisions on your property adjacent to the project within Parcel ID
106123200020 at approximately Mile Post 250 east of 1-25 and south of SH 56.
Maps of the flood hazard revision are attached. If you have any questions or concerns about the project or its
