HomeMy WebLinkAbout20260159 MINUTES WELD COUNTY COUNCIL December 15, 2025 The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County Home Rule Charter at 6:30 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Weld County Administration Building, 1150 0 Street, Greeley, CO. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by President Nancy Teksten. Councilmembers Elijah Hatch, , James Welch, Jeff Reck and Terry DeGroot were present, constituting a quorum of members. Also present was Council Secretary Linda Kane. APPROVAL OF AGENDA : Councilmember Hatch made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Councilmember Welch, and the motion carried. APPROVAL OF DOCUMENTATION: Approval of November Minutes Councilmember Hatch made a motion to approve the November minutes, seconded by Councilmember DeGroot, and the motion carried. REVIEW PROGRAM: Perry Buck, Commissioner Chair, and Kevin Ross, Commissioner Commissioner Chair Perry Buck and Commissioner Kevin Ross gave short presentations. The commissioners had their 3rd reading on the budget with $1.4 billion going back to the taxpayer. They said Weld County has one of the lowest mill levies in the state. Progress on the new justice center is underway, Commissioner Ross said. He said negotiations continue with the City of Greeley. Requests for proposals will go out for a design team. The historical society was deciding whether the round building where City Hall is should be a historic building. While City Hall is torn down, Greeley leased the 7th floor of the Chase Building to temporarily house its staff. Commissioners were supposed to fly to Washington, D.C., in October to meet with members of Congress, but they didn't go because of the government shutdown. Commissioners have rescheduled the trip for January 19. Commissioner Ross said commissioners are going to work with the EPA to try to get out of air quality testing on cars. They also want to meet with the Department of Agriculture and Human Services to run through such programs as SNAP. The budget grew by 28 percent overall with roadwork marking a large part of construction projects. PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment. OLD BUSINESS: There was none. Bills Councilmember Reck made a motion to approve bills, it was seconded by Councilmember Welch and carried. The bills were paid as follows: o Weld County Phone Bill for November $31.48 Councilmember DeGroot made a motion to approve bills, it was seconded by Councilmember Hatch and carried. The bills were paid as follows: o Prairie Mtn.
