Re: Residential Tap with Associated Home Business
To Whom It May Concern:
The Left Hand Water District's policy regarding residential taps is defined as follows:
"A residence of this tap classification is defined to be a structure normally occupied by
one family. Water use under this residential classification may also include the
following: a business if such business is operated by the occupant of the residence and
both the business facility and the residence are situated in the same structure under the
common ownership of the person holding the residential tap."(Emphasis added)
• We have received a request from the above addressed residential tap holder to provide
evidence that states that water supply is adequate for their home business, and/or that the
District does not object to the residential tap's use for the business purposes being
conducted at the property.
Provided that the residential business meets our policy as outlined above,the District has
no objection to the tap use continuing under a residential classification. The water supply
is adequate for the size of tap purchased for the property.
If the use of the property becomes primarily business, or if the business use includes any
process water that may pose a hazard of backflow to the District, a tap classification to a
commercial tap may be required by the District, and advanced backflow protection
devices would be required.
