Home My WebLink About20062395 RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON 34TH STREET AT34TH AVENUEANDON 34TH AVENUEAT 35TH STREET WITHIN THE CARRIAGE ESTATES SUBDIVISION WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS,the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board that Stop Signs be installed on 34th Street at 34th Avenue and on 34th Avenue at 35th Street,within the Carriage Estates Subdivision, to ensure safety to the traveling public, and WHEREAS,the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for the protection of the general public. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install Stop Signs on 34th Street at 34th Avenue and on 34th Avenue at 35th Street,within the Carriage Estates Subdivision,for the safety of the general public, and said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The above and foregoing Resolution was,on motion duly made and seconded,adopted by the following vote on the 30th day of August, A.D., 2006. Director of Public Works/County Engineer COLORADO SUBJECT: Installation of Stop Signs in Carriage Estates: 34th and 35th Street Intersection With 34th Avenue A request to review installation of a "Stop Sign" has been received for the intersection of 34th Street and 34th Avenue in Carriage Estates. While investigating this location,the intersection of 35th Street and 34th Avenue was also reviewed. 34th Street and 34th Avenue: This intersection has a "T" configuration with 34th Avenue being the through street. A sight distance restriction occurs in the northwest corner of the intersection caused by a combination of fencing and flowering vines on private property 35th Street and 34th Avenue: This intersection has a "T" configuration with 35th Street being the through street. A sight distance restriction occurs in the northwest corner of the intersection caused by the location of a very large spruce tree. Analysis: The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices section on"Stop Signs"establishes a warrant for the application of those signs when sight restrictions are present. Both of these locations qualify for this warrant. Recommendations: Recommend the Board of County Commissioners approve a resolution authorizing installation of"Stop Signs"on 34th Street entering onto 34th Avenue and on 34th Avenue entering onto 35th Street.
