It formed in clayey alluvium on plains and high terraces of the South Platte. The surface is a clay loam. The subsoil is a clay. The substratum is a clay or clay loam extending to 60 inches or more. The soils have a slow to very slow permeability. The available water holding capacity is high and roots penetrate to 60 inches or more.
