Map unit: 57 Renohill clay loam, 3 to 9 percent slopes
Description Category: SOI
The Renohill soil is a moderately deep, well drained soil. It is formed on plains in
residuum from shale. The surface is a clay loam as are the subsoil and the underlying
material. The soils have slow permeability. Their available water holding capacit
y is moderate. Roots penetrate to the depth of the shale, which ranges from 20 to 40
inches. Runoff is medium and the erosion hazard due to wind is moderate.
Map unit: 66 Ulm clay loam, 0 to 3 percent slopes
Description Category: SOI
The Ulm soil is a deep, well drained soil. It formed in clayey alluvium on plains and
high terraces of the South Platte. The surface is a clay loam. The subsoil is a clay.
The substratum is a clay or clay loam extending to 60 inches or more. The soils
have a slow to very slow permeability. The available water holding capacity is high and
roots penetrate to 60 inches or more. Runoff is slow to medium and the hazard to wind
erosion is moderate.
