Re: On-site Septic System
The "Soil Survey of Weld County, Colorado-Southern Part." By United
States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in
cooperation with Colorado Agriculture Experiment Station is the
reference used to evaluate on-site septic capability.
Table 7 "Sanitary Facilities" of the Soils Survey Manual defines 1-
Midway-Shingle, soil in the planned area of development, as slight
for septic tank and absorption fields. Slight means in the manual
that the item is useable.
Table 13 "Physical and Chemical Properties of Soils" of the Soils
Survey Manual rates this type of soil as good with a permeability of
0.6 to 2.0 of in./hr.
It is my opinion that a septic absorption system can be designed for
the planned facilities for the site. Field percolation tests will
be performed as part of the design. A check to determine the water
table for proper separation distance of absorption field to water
table will be completed during construction of a system for
compliance to local codes.
