Re: Brighi/Danford Change of Zone Proposal -- Parcel Northwest of the Intersection of
U.S. Hwy. 34 and 59th Avenue, Greeley Area, Weld County
Gentlemen:
At your request, we have reviewed the materials submitted for and made a field inspection
of the site of the parcel indicated above. The following comments summarize our findings.
(1) In the undisturbed natural state, the geology of this parcel consisted of eolian (wind-
deposited) sands and silts of unknown thickness overlying bedrock. Man-disturbance of
native materials and placement of fills, including some very recent excavation spoils
placements on the west side of the parcel, have considersbly changed the composition of
surficial materials. Determination of their exact composition and compaction cannot be
made now without subsurface exploration, including drilling and trenching. There is a water
well with an operational hand pump approximately in the center of the parcel and at the
time of site visit a field trailer and signage were located on its south side.
(2) Our only geology-related concern about construction is that the site be investigated by
a qualified soils and foundation engineer. The overall site drainage appears to be adequate
although there may be some runoff from the liquor-store parking lot to the north.There was
no surface evidence of hazardous materials on the site. However, the new fills showed
evidence of trash and debris in them. The ownership and disposition of the water well and
pump are unknown.
We have no geology-related objection to commercial development of this property.
