Dear Mr. Croissant:
This is to confirm our recent telephone conversation regarding the County's
response to the road petition submitted by the residents of the Lint-tale
Suhnivision requesting barricades be placed to prevent traffic fran caning
off of U.S. Highway 34 into the suMivision.
We have discussed this with the Commissioners and the County Attorney and
it is the general concensus that this is a problem of private property owners
preventing access to their own property. The openings which you referred to,
made by unknown parties, are actually on the State Highway right-of-way and
therefore are not within the County's juricrliction. It appears to me that
the only realistic solution to the problem is to get the pLuperty owners
involved in erecting a fence or barricade along their own property lines to
prevent unauthorized persons from entering your property from the State
Highway right-of-way.
We have also discussed this with the State Highway District Engineer, who
indicated the willingness to work with you in attempting to solve this
problem. It is recommended that you contact the State Highway office here
in Greeley in that regard.
In order to cut down on unnecessary traffic dam Dilwood and Delmont Avenues
fncxn the north, the County has installed "dead end" signs-at the entrances to
these two roads from 18th Street. It is hoped that this will help the problem
somewhat. If you have any further questions, please contact our office.
