Dear Commissioners:
As Superintendent of Weld County School District 6, I fully support the Weld
County Sheriffs grant request for a Traffic Division. I believe it is very important
to get more enforcement and education to the Citizens of Weld County. The
number of traffic fatalities in Weld County is unacceptably high and we need to
seriously look into the causes and develop long- and short-term strategies to
address traffic issues.
The population growth calls for increased service from all facets of Government
and this grant is an excellent way to leverage our County dollars to help meet
those demands.
The plan proposed by the Sheriffs Office incorporates enforcement as well as
education and planning. The resulting data would be useful for everyone in the
community, especially officials like the County Commissioners, who must make
decisions regarding the use of public funds. Another component of the grant
addresses the need for educating our young drivers and this is particularly timely
given the number of young people killed in traffic accident in Weld County.
In closing, I ask that you give this grant application your approval.
Sincerely,
Cnthony M. ariso
