RESOLUTION
RE: DESIGNATION OF WELD COUNTY AS A DISASTER AREA DUE TO GRASS-
HOPPER INFESTATION AND APPOINTMENT OF STAN BOYES, WELD COUNTY
EXTENSION AGENT, AS WELD COUNTY 'S REPRESENTATIVE IN THE STATE
SPRAYING PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, an invasion of grasshoppers threatens the destruc-
tion of 180, 000 acres of grass and crop lands in the eastern
half of the County of Weld, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable
and in the best interests of Weld County to declare Weld County
a disaster area and to participate in the state grasshopper
infestation eradication operation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Weld County, Colorado that Weld County be, and
hereby is, declared to be a disaster area due to grasshopper
infestation, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that Weld County shall
participate in the state grasshopper infestation eradication
operation, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that Stan Boyes, Weld
County Extension Agent, be, and hereby is, appointed as Weld
County' s representative in the state grasshopper infestation
eradication program.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 18th day of
June, A.D. , 1980.

Dear Mr. Smith :
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado ,
has requested that the Governor declare an emergency resulting
from a major grasshopper infestation in the area o.f eastern
Weld County known as the Eastern Weld Pest Control District
covering approximately 200 , 000 acres . A map of the area
involved is attached.
Weld County has no funds available to control this infestation
and asks that the Commissioner of Agriculture request that
funds from the Governor' s Agricultural Emergency and Disaster
Fund be made available to the Eastern Weld Pest Control
District for grasshopper control .
The Board also requests that upon receipt of this letter,
the Commissioner of Agriculture immediately direct operations
to commence to control the grasshoppers in the Eastern Weld
Pest Control District. Further information about this
request may be obtained from Mr. Stan Boyes , Weld County
Extension Office , 356-4000, Ext. 465 . Thank you for your
attention to this matter.

Dear Governor Lamm:
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado ,
hereby requests that the Governor declare an emergency
resulting from a major grasshopper infestation in the area
of eastern Weld County known as the Eastern Weld Pest
Control District covering approximately 200 ,000 acres . A
map of the area involved is attached. The Board asks that
the Governor direct that any emergency measures which he
deems necessary be taken to alleviate the conditions which
currently exist in the district which gravely jeapordize
property and resources .
Weld County has no funds available to control this infestation
and requests that funds from the Governor ' s Agricultural
Emergency and Disaster Fund be made available to the Eastern
Weld Pest Control District for grasshopper control .
