Dear«Title» «LastName»: COLORADO
We recently advised neighboring land owners regarding the filing of applications for an amendment to our Use by
Special Review permit(USR 897)with Weld County and for a new permit with the State of Colorado, Division of
Minerals and Geology(DMG), for sand and gravel mining. We are aware that some concerns have been raised
regarding possible public health and safety issues related to mining activity. We understand those concerns, and we
want to assure you that our mining plans,as well as internal compliance monitoring, address those concerns to
minimize any potential impact our activity may have on our neighbors.
With this project, the traffic issue is addressed by limiting access to the site to a location on 83rd Avenue(across
from the arrrss used by Bestway Concrete). The majority of traffic to and from our site will be south on 83rd
Avenue, towards Highway 34. We are able to accommodate limiting site access by using a system of conveyors
from eastern portions of the mining site to our plant site along 83rd Avenue.
Use of a conveyor system can also help to reduce noise and dust associated with transporting material.
To further minimize noise and dust,as well as to provide visual screening, berms will be built up along"O"Street
(WCR 64),and along residential boundaries adjacent to areas being mined. Each of these features are addressed in
our application and appear on the mining plan map. Our plan also provides for reclamation concurrent with mining;
when one"cell"is mined out,it will be reclaimed. Concurrent reclamation limits the period of time that activity
occurs in any one area. To assure compliance with the mining plan annual reports are filed with DMG, and they
conduct periodic inspections.
Operating standards,as set forth in Weld County's Zoning Ordinance, will be strictly adhered to,as will dust and
water quality standards as set forth by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Appropriate
permits will be in place, and our mining activity and equipment will be monitored for compliance, both internally
and by the County and State Health Departments. As indicated in previous communications,CAMAS typically
meets or exceeds all local, regional and federal environmental requirements.
Neighbors who use well water often question what impact mining activity may have on their wells. Our mining plan
incorporates a series of monitoring wells, which are inspected on a scheduled basis to determine any impact on
ground water. If ground water is impacted,we will assure mitigation of any impact appropriately.
We welcome the opportunity to hear your comments and to share with you additional information about our plans
and our company. Please call me at 353-2005 with any questions that you may have.
Very truly yours,
Connie N. Davis

Dear«Title» «LastName»:
This is to advise you that CAMAS has filed for an amendment to our Use by Special Review Permit
(USR 897) with Weld County for sand and gravel mining in the area bordered by 83rd Avenue, O Street,
7151 Avenue and the Poudre River. We have also filed for a new permit with the State Division of
Minerals and Geology (DMG). These filings incorporate additional property that was not included in the
original permit process. The plans also include enhancements to the mining and reclamation originally
proposed.
The public can inspect the application documents at the Weld County Planning Office, however we
extend this letter to our neighbors as an invitation to contact us if you would like an opportunity to review
these documents, including maps, at our Greeley office. We feel it is vital that you have accurate
information concerning our company and the mining and reclamation plans related to this proposal. We
welcome you to contact us regarding any questions you may have.
I would note that CAMAS meets or exceeds all local, regional and federal regulations applicable to our
activity. We have been the recipient of numerous awards from distinctive organizations across the nation.
Among the most notable of these awards are"Ethics and Business", presented by Colorado Corporate
Responsibility, "Good Neighbor"and"Golden Eagle" environmental awards from National Stone
Association, and three"Outstanding Reclamation"awards from the State of Colorado, Division of
Minerals and Geology. We would be happy to provide you with a listing of other awards we have
received. These awards bear out our commitment to environmental stewardship and to being a good
neighbor in the community.
Please feel free to call me at 353-2005 with any questions you may have.
