Re: Oil and Gas Drilling
We have recently been contacted by a firm representing an individual
property owner in the general vicinity of State Farm's Regional Office
who has proposed drilling for oil and gas. This proposal, although
not suggesting drilling specifically on State Farm's property, requested
rights to drill beneath State Farm property and its regional office.
This letter is to inform you of State Farm's grave concern for any type
of drilling activity that may be carried on anywhere in the general
vicinity of our building. We recognize the contribution that the oil
and gas industry makes in the community. Nevertheless, the safety and
convenience of businesses such as ours may override the oil and gas com-
panies needs where there is a concentration of people.
Please have those people within your organization who are specifically
involved in the approval or disapproval of this type of drilling activity
know of our concern. Thank you.
