HomeMy WebLinkAbout20001615 Minutes WELD COUNTY COUNCIL - May 16, 2000 Tape 148AB00 The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County Home Rule Charter at Weld Centennial Center, 915 10th Street, Greeley, CO, Tuesday, May 16, 2000 6:30 p.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by President Al Roberts. Vice President Dwaine Kurtz and Councilwoman Joyce Smock were present, constituting a quorum of the members. Councilman Oster joined the meeting at 6:40 p.m. and Councilman Martin joined the meeting at 7:10 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Vice President Kurtz made a motion that the April 18 Council minutes be approved. Councilwoman Smock seconded the motion and it carried. APPOINTMENTS: June 19, 2000, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the Council will meet at the Assessor's office for a "hands on" orientation session hosted by Deputy Assessor Chris Woodruff. CORRESPONDENCE: Vice President Kurtz suggested that the 2001 budget process be added to the agenda for the June Council meeting. COORDINATOR REPORTS: Weld County Staff and the Press Vice President Kurtz said that he had talked with Commissioner Vaad about possible policy of the Board of County Commissioners regarding Weld County staff discussing with the press action taken by local citizen boards. Road Paving Concern President Al Roberts reported that he had been contacted by Weld County citizen, Mr Adams, who owns a dairy on Weld County 5 1/2 north of Hwy 119. Mr. Adams is concerned about what he considers an unsafe road condition created when a housing developer paved only one-half of a road near Mr. Adam's dairy. Mr Roberts is waiting to hear back from Public Works Operations Manager, Dave Becker, about the concern. O7-GS-atxo� 2000-1615 Weld County Council Minutes May 16,2000 Page 2 of 2 UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Greeley Stampede Parade Councilwoman Joyce Smock made a motion that Council not participate in the 2000 Greeley Stampede Parade. The motion carried. August and October 2000 Council Meeting Locations Councilman Kurtz will plan the August Council meeting. President Al Roberts asked Councilman Martin to plan the October Council meeting in District 3. NEW BUSINESS: Weld County Ends Weld Library Contract Vice President Kurtz reported that he had talked with Commissioner Vaad and asked for cooperation from the Weld County Commissioners in the time-line of severing Weld County's finance and personnel ties to the Weld County Library District. Status Report on Clerk & Recorder's Management Study The Council reviewed the Clerk and Recorder's Management Study report. Payment of the Bills Councilwoman Joyce Smock made a motion that the Council pay the bills as listed: Mileage for President Al Roberts $ 15.86 Mileage for Councilman Mitchell Martin $ 37.44 Mileage for Councilman Oster $ 8.54 Mileage for Councilwoman Joyce Smock $ 36.60 Legal Notice - South Weld Sun $41.48 The motion carried.
