Mr. Chuck Carlson Chairman Weld County Commissioners Weld County Centennial Center Greeley, Co 80631 Dear Mr. Carlson: The use of money from the state lottery probably is open for discussion and can be placed beneficially into many areas of the county. I want to support using it for a fine auditorium being planned for Greeley. (Some wrongly call it a performing arts center. ) Our area has never had a good place for a large crowd to sit down in relative comfort and listen to an important public figure speak. We can't have large crowds hear a debate, listen to a touring U.S. Marine Band, or watch a presentation on an important agricultural topic. In short, we need an auditorium, not just for concerts, but for the myriad of other things which happen in audience facilities. Conventions and economic development are one of your favorite subjects. Our lack of a good facility is a negative and you know that, with all the competition we can 't afford too many negatives. We need the con- ventions and we need the economic development. While we want to emphasize a fine place to showcase the oldest symphony orchestra in the Rocky Mountains, we also know that the orchestra can only use the building 12 or 15 nights per year. Other uses will be in there 80-100 more nights. That's the way it has worked at Ames, Iowa; Flagstaff, Arizona; Fort Collins and other areas which have similar sizes of populations. 2021 Clubhouse Drive P.O. If they can do it, so can we. Please support the use of lottery funds for this facility. Sincerely, ARIX, A Professional Corporation C C. Ne 1 Carpenter, AIA President CNC/bh Hello
