Subject: Weld Lease Conservation Easements
This is to let you know of South Platte Valley Historical Society's interest in the possibility of
farmland conservation easements. There is a 58-acre parcel of farm land adjoining the
100-acre Fort Lupton Historic Park that we are working to develop, that we are most concerned
might be developed into something very detrimental to our efforts.
Probably any sales tax that could help us would come too late, since that land would be a prime
site for commercial development, but this situation is a good example of the benefits that could
come from conservation easements.
