Dear Mr. Planner, RECEIVED
I am writing this letter to urge the disapproval of a 4000 head dairy farm operation
proposed by Mr. Terry Dye at the junction of WCR 15 and Road 84. I am a resident
living about 1/4 mile NW of the proposed site.
I believe the establishment of such an operation will impact the quality of life to current
residents as a result of environmental impact and changes in character and flavor of the
neighborhood. It will also lower our property values.
Currently Mr. Dye is operating a dairy farm about 1/8 mile west of my residence.
Although it was stated in his application for the new dairy farm that activities will occur
primarily during daylight hours,there had been many times I was awaken by backup
alarms of front-loaders from his current operation. If this proposal was approved, the
environmental impact pertaining to noise level will be increased. That is one change in
my quality of life I do not welcome.
My neighborhood is mainly made up of small family farms and ranches. The introduction
of a 4000 head dairy farm will ultimately alter the character and flavor of the
neighborhood. Together with the proposed mobile homes for accessory employees at the
�., NW corner of the proposed dairy, it will impact the quality of life and lower the property
values in the neighborhood.
Since I am not an expert in retention ponds and such, I'll leave that discussion to others. I
just want to emphasize the quality of life issue and urge the rejection of this proposal for
the preservation of the neighborhood.

I am against the granting of the permit for a 4000 head dairy for Terry Dye, Dyelands Dairy, LLC.
On the usual grounds of noise, smell, dust, increased traffic on a dangerous stretch of road and
the loss of 2 more farms under the Cactus Hill ditch.
I have lived on farms most of my life, in the present location for over 50 years, but find the
prospect of 4000 head of cows, across the road, up wind, over whelming. I realize that if I don't
like it I can move, but I shouldn't have to! This is the home where I wanted to live the last years
of my life.

rTh Thank you for your letter dated October 20, 2000 requesting research by the Department of
Planning Services. Unfortunately this office does not provide the type of service you have
requested. The Clerk to the Board's Office is the keeper of the original case files for Site Specific
Development Plans (USR's) and would be the office to contact to look at previous cases that have
been heard by the Board of County Commissioners. If the information you are requesting cannot
be found at the Clerk to the Board's Office you may research the Department of Planning Services'
Chaindex records and request specific cases be pulled. The USR cases are public record and you
may look through any cases in our possession within our office.
The only minor subdivision that is within a one mile radius of the Dyelands Dairy, that I am aware
of, is Remington Place (S-505, Final Plan).

Dear Ms. Chester:
I would like to review prior dairy USR files. Could you fax a list of all of the USR files for dairies
in Weld County over the last five years? If there are a large volume of these files, could you isolate
only the files that the Planning Staff has recommended denial as well as the files that were actually
denied?
Please fax a list of the files that fit the above description so that I (or my assistant) can review said
files next.week. Additionally, could you let MO 'mow the names of the two minor subdivisions or
PUD's recently approved south of the Dyelands Dairy property.
