HomeMy WebLinkAbout20001053.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON TWO RIVERS PARKWAY, PHASE III, AT VARIOUS INTERSECTIONS WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board that "Stop" signs be installed on Two Rivers Parkway, Phase III, at Weld County Road 54, 83rd Avenue, Weld County Road 56, and a flashing beacon be added to the existing "Stop" sign on the south leg of U.S. Highway 34 Bypass, to ensure safety to the traveling public, and WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for the protection of the general public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install "Stop" signs on Two Rivers Parkway, Phase III at Weld County Road 54, 83rd Avenue, Weld County Road 56, and to add a flashing beacon to the existing "Stop" sign on the south leg of U.S. Highway 34 Bypass, for the safety of the general public, and said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 8th day of May, A.D., 2000. The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Section 2B-5 states "a stop sign may be warranted at an intersection where one or more of the following conditions exist: 1. Intersection of a less important road with a main road where application of the normal right-of-way rule is unduly hazardous. 2. Street entering a through highway or street. 3. Unsignalized intersection in a signalized area. 4. Other intersections where a combination of high speed, restricted view, and serious accident record indicates a need ibr control by the STOP sign." The proposed intersections meet warrants 2 and 4.
