RE: APPROVAL TO POST THE INTERSECTION OF "O" STREET AND 35TFI
AVENUE AS A 4-WAY STOP .
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado , and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Engineer has recommended that the
intersection of "O" Street and 35th Avenue be posted as a 4-way
stop to insure safety to the traveling public , and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Engineer further recommends that
this intersection be reviewed at the end of a 6-month period, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has studied the
recommendations of the Weld County Engineer and has determined
that the posting of said intersection as a 4-way stop is neces-
sary for the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Weld County, Colorado that the Department of
Engineering Services be, and hereby is , directed to post the
intersection of "O" Street and 35th Avenue as a 4-way stop.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners
that said 4-way stop intersection shall be re-evaluated at the
end of a 6-month period.
The above and foregoing Resolution was , on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 19th day of
November, A.D. , 1980 .

4-Way Stop at "O" Street and 35th Avenue
Subject:
A Shirley Bernhardt called Lydia a couple of weeks ago to say that the inter-
section of 35th Avenue and "O" Street is dangerous and that one death had
occurred that week. The lady's husband had also had a near miss that morning.
She raised the question about a 4-way stop at that intersection.
I had Bud Schmuhl make traffic counts at that intersection. The results are
shown on the attached traffic count sheet. At present the stop is on 35th
Avenue and "O" Street is through traffic. Bud's recommendation is to leave
it as is, in that it would not improve the situation much to make a 4-way stop
out of the intersection. I tend to agree with him.
If you think the Commissioners would want to make 4-way stops at that intersection,
let me know and we will try to schedule a work session on it. The Commissioners
have been reluctant to make 4-way stops in the past, but with the traffic on this
they might think it would be best for all concerned.

Subject: 4-Way Stop at "O" Street and 35th Avenue
Based on the attached traffic counts for "0" Street and 35th Avenue, it
is reconmunded that this intersection be posted with a 4-Way Stop.
It is further recommended that this intersection be re-counted at the end
of six months to determine if 35th Avenue should be made a through street.
