Applicant Program Description:
Weld Food Bank is currently undertaking several initiatives designed to improve service to low-
income persons in Weld County as related to food and nutrition. Weld Food Bank is partnering
with ConAgra and the Boys and Girls Club of Weld County to provide meals to hungry children.
This program will help children who often do not receive a hot, prepared meal in the evening,
most of whom are receiving free meals at school.
Also, Weld Food Bank is partnering with RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program),
Monfort Children's Clinic, and Sunrise Community Health Center to provide fresh fruits and
vegetables to their clientele, along with nutrition education aimed at changing their eatin.g habits.
Currently, Weld Food Bank provides the majority of the food used daily at the local Salvation
Army feeding program, who's primary goal is to feed the homeless in the Greeley area. The
food that is used in this program is of a high nutritional value, which helps offset the lack of
frequency in meals that homeless people often experience.
Weld Food Bank continues to acquire food through major donors in the area, America's Second
Harvest National Food Bank Network, local food drives, the USDA, and local grocers. The
$3779 from the CFN Program would be used to help supplement the diet of our target
population, the low-income and need of Weld County.
