BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES
WELD COUNTY, COLORADO
APRIL 3, 2000

The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of
Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in
the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, April 3, 2000, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were
present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner Barbara J. Kirkmeyer, Chair
Commissioner M. J. Geile, Pro-Tem
Commissioner George E. Baxter
Commissioner Dale K. Hall
Commissioner Glenn Vaad
Also present:
County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker
Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick
Director of Finance and Administration, Don Warden
MINUTES: Commissioner Geile moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting
of March 29, 2000, as printed. Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.
WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for approval
by the Board in the amount of $60,250.24. Commissioner Hall moved to approve the warrants as
presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner Baxter seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
CONSIDER GENERAL ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN
- CATHOLIC CHARITIES NORTHERN: Judy Griego, Director of Social Services, stated under this
agreement Catholic Charities Northern will provide shelter and case management for homeless families.
For these services, the Weld County Department of Social Services will reimburse Catholic Charities in
the amount of $20,489.00. Commissioner Baxter moved to approve said agreement and authorize the
Chair to sign. Commissioner Vaad seconded the motion. In response to Commissioner Geile, Ms. Griego
stated this amount reflects an increase for shelter services and a decrease for case management. There
being no further discussion, the motion carried unanimously.
CONSIDER GENERAL ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN
-GREELEY TRANSITIONAL HOUSE, INC.: Ms. Griego stated under this agreement Greeley Transitional
House, Inc., will provide shelter and case management for homeless families. For these services, the
Weld County Department of Social Services will reimburse Greeley Transitional House, Inc., in the amount
$23,746.00, which is a slight increase over last year. Commissioner Hall moved to approve said
agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Geile, the motion carried
unanimously.

CONSIDER GENERAL ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN
-A WOMAN'S PLACE, INC.: Ms. Griego stated under this agreement A Woman's Place, Inc.,will provide
shelter and case management for homeless families. For these services, the Weld County Department
of Social Services will reimburse A Woman's Place, Inc., in the amount $15,765.00. In response to
Commissioner Geile, Ms. Griego stated the amount is considerably less than last year. Commissioner
Vaad moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner
Geile, the motion carried unanimously.
Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted
by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
There being no further business, this meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
