Dear Mr. Bagley:
The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) at its regular meeting on May 22, 2000,
approved the enclosed resolution, designating floodplains and areas subject to a 100-year Oboe or
one- percent chance flood in your jurisdiction. The 100-year floodplains are the land areas whIch
are recognized by the State and the Federal Emergency Management Agency as the areas requir.ng
floodplain regulation.
A. designation and approval by the CWCB assures the local jurisdictions that floodplain
information is in compliance with the provisions and requirements of the State of Colorado's "Rules
and Regulations for the Designation and Approval of Floodplains and or Storm or Floodwater
Runoff Channels in Colorado."
The CWCB coordinates the flood control and floodplain management activities and programs for
the State and is the State Coordinator for the National Flood Insurance Program. The CWCB staff ,
is knowledgeable in federal and state flood programs, structural and nonstructural practices, and
flood mitigation measures. We urge local jurisdictions to continue using floodplain zoning and
land use regulations in accordance with federal and state guidelines and under the authority granted
by the enclosed resolution.
If you have any questions or if we can be of further assistance, please contact our office.
