An auto repair garage is classified in the 1997 Uniform Building Code (UBC) as an H-4 Occupancy. Section 904.2.6.2 of the UBC requires an automatic fire-extinguishing system for this Occupancy when the floor area exceeds 3,000 square feet. This system and its components may be composed of a number of fire suppressants such as water, dry chemicals, aqueous foams, or carbon dioxide. I would recommend that any system installed be provided with the capability to notify a central clearing house or fire station in the event of a fire. afig ,,i Hello
