Dear County Commissioners;
I am writing this letter in reference to the proposition of the 1/4 of 1% sale tax increase to go
towards conservation easements on farmland that is in danger of being developed. I am very much
in favor of this tax, if it will help preserve Open Space in Weld County.
Everyone that I have spoken with (in Weld County)feels that this would definitely be a step in the
right direction. Although there seems to be some common questions and concerns. Some of the
most widely voiced concerns are as follows:
1. Who would rule on where the money is to be spent?
2. Would Southwest Weld County see their fair share of the funds allocated for this purpose?
3. Would the money only be spent on the worth while cause of Open Space or could it be
channeled elsewhere?
These are a few of the questions that are on people's minds. Hopefully these questions can be
addressed and this issue will get to the ballot.
