Dear Morwai Dairy Neighbors:
Thank you for your patience and cooperation with Morwai Dairy during the last several months.
We have been working very hard to get the odor situation under control.
To date,the east pond has been inoculated and supercharged with enzymes to start the proper
bacterial growth. The pond has responded very well and is operating close to the intended design.
We expect this pond to be fully reconditioned before next spring's warm weather.
We have stopped applying magnesium hydroxide to the ponds, but will keep the product onsite
through next spring.
We have stopped flushing the dairy and have reduced water use where possible. The solids
separation system has been improved and is operating at a much greater efficiency.
The west pond continued to be a problem, so we began to dewater the pond and to date, have
removed over one half of the water. The pond should be completely dewatered by the end of
October.
Special equipment has been ordered for the irrigation pivot systems and the pivots to the east and
southeast will be connected to the system and upgraded by spring 2001.
We are planning a community meeting for 8:00 a.m., on Wednesday,November 1, 2000. (There
will not be any meetings before November 1). We will also continue to keep everyone informed
about changes or issues through letters and phone calls.
Finally,please call us if you have any concerns or odor problems from the dairy. We appreciate
your involvement.
