Schraeder 72O5 WCR 62 Windsor, CO 80550.: • Dear Mr. Schraeder: We are in receipt of your letter dat'ed February 2, 2000, regarding the improvement planned for Weld County Road.(WCR) 62. The County is iftthe prodess of surveying WCR 62 between WCR 13'and WCR 17, a two mile stretch of road. This portion of road is scheduled.ta be in the design phase this year and construction is expected to start in 2O01. Our preliminary design, calls for either significantly '"flattening" the curve near WCR 15 ' and WCR 62 or constructing a straighter alignment: If you have any questions, please contact Dave Becker or Frank B. Hempen, dr., Weld County Public Works, for further details. Sincerely, BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONER& Barbara J. Kirkmeyer, Chair cc: Frank B. Before you pave the road I would like to make a plea to you about the curve in the road that is between roads 15 and 17 and out of it's easement. Please take the curve out of the road. I realize that a historic easement applies for the road, but the irrigation ditch does not have a recorded easement. There is no reason to keep the curve in the road. It has no purpose and it presents hazards to drivers as well as to my family, animals, and property. There have been several accidents on the curve causing damage to my fences. Many of these accidents were not reported so you won't find a record of all the accidents that have occurred. This curve directs the traffic right toward our house and we are planning on adding a sunroom onto the front of the house which would make the road even closer to it. There is also no reason why the irrigation ditch cannot be moved. It is in need of repair and it is not used to irrigate the field that it runs along, so it could even be replaced by a culvert. The traffic on this road already travels too fast. With pavement they will only go faster and unless they slow down for the curve they will end up in our yard or house. When the semi trucks slow down on the curve and then speed back up coming out of the curve the noise they make is enough to wake a person up. Currently these trucks make the whole house shake. Before you make a decision on this matter please take a drive down this road and look way ahead of the curve and you can see where the road should be and that there is no reason for the curve. Then put yourselves in our situation and imagine living here with the traffic coming at you so close to your house. As much as I want the road to be paved to get us out of the horrible dust, I also want the road to be made right. Sincerely, Kenneth D. Schraeder Hello
