Worksession _ 2000-0470 Barbara Kirkmeyer, County Commissioner, Weld County PO Box 758 Greeley, Colorado 80632 Dear Ms. Kirkmeyer, I am greatly saddened by the wanton destruction of majestic cottonwood groves and old farm buildings in Greeley. The taking of these old trees seems so senseless-when we look at Fort Collins we seen new developers building houses around these historic trees. Some of the old farm buildings could certainly be relocated and/or renovated to showcase Greeley's important ranching and agricultural heritage. It deeply pains me to see these great icons destroyed so our children won't know about, or honor, their ranching/agricultural ancestors. It seems that with the great prices developers and buyers are willing to pay to live here, a concession to spend a few extra dollars to preserve these great trees and farms buildings that so beautifully illustrate our heritage would not be out of the question. If we are powerless to stem the tide of development pressure then at least we should ask that development does its best to protect our native and cultural heritage. Very truly yours, Janet White, 20 year resident 104 48ih Avenue Court . oid County Planning Dept. Greeley, Colorado 80634 FEB 01 2000 RECEIVED Hello
