All unnecessary water sources have been stopped or dramatically reduced. All pen alley flushes are now using recycled water. We inoculated the primary lagoon on August 10°'with 220 gallons of an enzyme solution that will aid in the proper digestion of solids and nutrients in the lagoon. Three to four gallons of the product are added each day into the water stream from the milking parlor. Magnesium Hydroxide is sprayed on the lagoons each afternoon to reduce the hydrogen sulfide odors. Three hundred pounds per day is sprayed onto the lagoon surfaces each afternoon via a rented fire truck. Morwai Dairy will be conducting update meetings on the second and forth Wednesday of each month. The next scheduled meetings will be held at the Morwai dairy office at 8:00 a.m., on the 13th and the 27th of September. We encourage our neighbors to come and ask questions, voice concerns, and hear our progress reports. We will continue these operations until the lagoons reach equilibrium. If you have any questions please call Thomas Haren at (303) 746-0984. Sincerely, Thomas Haren AgPro Environmental services, LLC 6508 WCR 5 Erie, CO 80516 (303) 746-0984 ed/25e4 n9,e//(7 .2 /` O 2000-2373 Q(52 # /.10 ) C'.' />/L/ /Al7 • K'n twai Dcthy, £urC. 12954 W.C.R.43 Business(303)536-4801 Hudson,CO 80642 Fax(303) 536-9956 August 10, 2000 Dear Morwai Dairy Neighbors, This letter is to update our neighbors regarding the action plan to reduce the odors from Morwai Dairy. We apologize for the inconvenience and assure you we are using every technically achievable method to get the current odor situation remedied as soon as possible. Our plan is to first spray the lagoon surfaces daily with a magnesium hydroxide solution that will bind the hydrogen sulfide emitted from the lagoons. Magnesium hydroxide is the same product as milk of magnesia from the drug store. It will bind with the hydrogen sulfide that causes a "rotten egg"smell. This product will be applied daily, in the afternoon and in the evening. We are planning to begin using the product as soon as it is delivered. We expect to begin by this weekend. Second, we are adding an enzymatic lagoon additive that will enhance the proper digestion of the dairy manure in the lagoon. Proper digestion of the manure as planned will emit significantly less and different odors than the odors emitted by the decomposition process presently occurring. We will add the enzymes this week and daily thereafter. Third, AgPro Environmental Services, LLC will be monitoring the progress of our plan daily for the first few weeks and weekly thereafter. We would like to remain in contact with our neighbors regarding any further problems or also, any improvements. Please call Tom Haran with AgPro Environmental Services, LLC at(303) 746-0984, or our manager Robert Strack at(970) 539- 9180, if you have any comments or would like more information. Improvements may not occur immediately, but we hope to gain control of the current situation as soon as possible. We assure you we are concerned and working diligently on the odor problems and apologize for the inconveniences. Sincerely, Bill Wailes John Moser Buddy Nichols Hello
