HomeMy WebLinkAbout20001529.tiff RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS MINUTES BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WELD COUNTY, COLORADO JUNE 21, 2000 TAPE #2000-18 The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, June 21, 2000, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof: Commissioner Barbara J. Kirkmeyer, Chair Commissioner M. J. Geile, Pro-Tem Commissioner George E. Baxter Commissioner Dale K. Hall Commissioner Glenn Vaad Also present: County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick Director of Finance and Administration, Donald D. Warden MINUTES: Commissioner Hall moved to approve the minutes of the Board of County Commissioners meeting of June 19, 2000, as printed. Commissioner Geile seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. ADDITIONS TO AGENDA: The following items were added under Presentations: 4) Recognition of Services, Department of Public Works - Robert Roy Lewis [2000-1526]; and 5) Recognition of Services, Department of Public Works - Dave Becker [2000-1527] CONSENT AGENDA: Commissioner Hall moved to approve the consent agenda a> printed. Commissioner Geile seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. PRESENTATIONS: RECOGNITION OF SERVICES,AREA AGENCY ON AGING- MARY JANE LANG: Chair Kirkmeyer read the certificate into the record recognizing Mary Jane Lang, who was not present, for two years of service on the Area Agency on Aging. RECOGNITION OF SERVICES, PUBLIC HEALTH BOARD - CLAY MORAN, MARY STOLL, AND JUDY YAMAGUCHI: Chair Kirkmeyer read the certificates into the record recognizing Clay Moran for three years of service, Mary Stoll for six years of service, and Judy Yamaguchi for three years of service on the Public Health Board. These members were not present. 2000-1529 BO0016 RECOGNITION OF SERVICES, REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS ADVISORY BOARD-GLENN MILLER: Chair Kirkmeyer read the certificate into the record recognizing Glenn Miller, who was not present, for seven years of service on the Regional Communications Advisory Board. RECOGNITION OF SERVICES, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS - ROBERT ROY LEV/IS Chair Kirkmeyer read the plaque into the record recognizing Robert Roy Lewis for more than 15 years of service in the Weld County Department of Public Works. Marc Street and Dave Becker, Department of Public Works staff, thanked Mr. Lewis for all of his hard work and wished him good luck in his retirement. Frank Hempen, Jr., Director of Public Works, presented Mr. Lewis with a pin and thanked him for this jedication to the Department. RECOGNITION OF SERVICES, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS-DAVE BECKER: Chair Kirkmeyer read the plague recognizing Dave Becker for more than 32 years of service to the Weid County Department of Public Works. Mr. Hempen presented Mr. Becker with a pin and stated has only worked with Mr. Becker for the past two years; however, he played a major part in helping him make a smooth transition into his position. Mr. Hempen further stated Mr. Becker has done numerous types of work for the County over the years that have been very important to the County. Mr. Becker stated he has worked his way up through the various positions within the Department of Public Works and he hopes that his contributions to the County have been beneficial. COMMISSIONER COORDINATOR REPORTS: There were no Commissioner Coordinator Reports. PUBLIC INPUT: There was no public input. WARRANTS: Donald Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the following warrants for approval by the Board: All Funds $170,741.68 Commissioner Baxter moved to approve the warrants as presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner Geile seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. BIDS: PRESENT ROADWAY CLASSIFICATION STUDY BID: Pat Persichino, Director of General Services, presented the two bids received. Said bids will be considered for approval on Wednesday, July 5, 2000. PRESENT TACTICAL HELMETS, TOTE BAGS, AND SHIN GUARDS - SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Mr. Persichino presented the three bids received. Said bids will be considered for approval on Wednesday, July 5, 2000. PRESENT JAIL CLOTHING, SHOES,AND SOCKS BID- SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Mr. Persichino presented the four bids received. Said bids will be considered for approval on Wednesday, July 5, 2000. APPROVE CONCRETE BOX CULVERTS BID - DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS: Mr. Persichino stated the Department of Public Works recommends approval of the low bid from Carder Concrete Products Company/Wyoming, in the amount of$47,200.00. Commissioner Hall moved to approve said bid as recommended by staff. Commissioner Geile seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
