BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES
WELD COUNTY, COLORADO
SEPTEMBER 27, 2000

The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of
Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in
the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, September 27, 2000, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were
present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner Barbara J. Kirkmeyer, Chair
Commissioner M. J. Geile, Pro-Tem
Commissioner George E. Baxter
Commissioner Dale K. Hall
Commissioner Glenn Vaad - EXCUSED
Also present:
County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker
Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick
Comptroller, Claud Hanes
MINUTES: Commissioner Geile moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting
of September 25, 2000, as printed. Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.
WARRANTS: Claud Hanes, Comptroller, presented the warrants for approval by the Board in the amount
of $624.00. Commissioner Baxter moved to approve the warrants as presented by Mr. Hanes.
Commissioner Geile seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
CONSIDER 2000 COMMUNITY FOOD AND NUTRITION PROGRAM APPLICATION AND AUTHORIZE
CHAIR TO SIGN: Judy Griego, Director of Social Services, stated this application is being submitted on
behalf of the Weld Food Bank requesting $3,779.00 for food supplements which will be provided to low-
income and needy people in Weld County. Ms. Griego stated this amount is more than what was received
last year and she recommends approval. Commissioner Hall moved to approve said application and
authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Geile, the motion carried unanimously.
CONSIDER COMMUNITY FOOD AND NUTRITION PROGRAM CONTRACT AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR
TO SIGN: Ms. Griego stated this contract will finalize the application process as discussed in the previous
item. She explained the Department of Social Services will reimburse the Weld Food Bank a maximum
of$3,779.00, for providing the food supplements. Commissioner Baxter moved to approve said contract
and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Geile, the motion carried unanimously.
Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted
by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
