HomeMy WebLinkAbout20002149.tiff RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS MINUTES BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES WELD COUNTY, COLORADO SEPTEMBER 6, 2000 TAPE #2000-24 The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, September 6, 2000, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof: Commissioner Barbara J. Kirkmeyer, Chair Commissioner M. J. Geile, Pro-Tern Commissioner George E. Baxter Commissioner Dale K. Hall Commissioner Glenn Vaad Also present: County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick Director of Finance and Administration, Don Warden MINUTES: Commissioner Vaad moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting of August 30, 2000, as printed. Commissioner Baxter seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for approval by the Board in the amount of $75,397.14. Commissioner Geile moved to approve the warrants as presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. ADDITIONS: Commissioner Vaad moved to add the following under New Business: 1)Consider Request to Transfer TANF Funds to Child Welfare Program. Seconded by Commissioner Hall, the motion carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: CONSIDER REQUEST TO TRANSFER TANF FUNDS TO CHILD WELFARE PROGRAM: Judy Griego, Director of Social Services, explained the Colorado Department of Human Services requested Weld County identify and transfer allocation funds from 2000 to 2001. She recommended the Board request ten percent of the TANF funds be transferred to Child Welfare prior to October 1, 2000, at which time only 4.5 percent will be allowed to transfer. Ms. Griego explained staff feels this transfer is necessary to pay for over-expenditures in residential treatment center beds. Commissioner Baxter moved to approve said request. Commissioner Geile seconded the motion. Commissioner Vaad commented the Department of 2000-2149 BC0016 Social Services has been working to control the number of residential treatment center beds assignments. In response to Chair Kirkmeyer, Ms. Griego stated the State may not grant transfer of the full amount based on the timing of the request. She stated if the request is submitted after October 1, 2000, the transfer amount will be limited to 4.5 percent. The motion carried unanimously. Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
