HomeMy WebLinkAbout20010266.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - LOS ALEGRES ANCIANOS MEXICANOS (L.A.A.M.) WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with a Memorandum of Agreement between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging, and the Los Alegres Ancianos Mexicanos (L.A.A.M.), with terms and conditions being as stated in said memorandum of agreement, and WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said memorandum of agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Memorandum of Agreement between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging, and the Los Alegres Ancianos Mexicanos (L.A.A.M.) be, and hereby is, approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized to sign said memorandum of agreement. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 29th day of January, A.D., 2001. Geile, Chair Board of County Commissioners WUDlupe FROM: Walter J. Speckman, Executive Director Hum$ Services DATE: January 17, 2001 COLORADO SUBJECT: Non financial agreement with L.A.A.M. Enclosed for Board approval is a non financial working agreement between the Weld County Human Services' Senior Nutrition Program and Los Alegres Ancianos Mexicanos (L.A.A.M.). The purpose of this agreement is to outline important areas policies that must be followed and coordinated with L.A.A.M. to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the Senior Nutrition Program at the City of Greeley Rodarte Center where the L.A.A.M. group comprise the majority of the participants at the mealsite. Questions should be directed to Linda E. Piper, Director Weld County Area Agency on Aging extension 3320. 2001-0266 MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 2nd Day of January 2001, by and between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Weld County Division of Human Services' Area Agency on Aging's Senior Nutrition Project, hereinafter referred to as the "Project", and Los Alegres Ancianos Mexicanos, hereinafter referred to as "L.A. A. M." WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the parties hereto desire to work together for the express purpose of providing nutrition, social and educational programs to the senior citizens of Weld County: and WHEREAS, the parties desire to provide a congregate meal site for senior citizens in Weld County: and WHEREAS, to implement these goals, the parties desire to establish an agreement that will provide for coordination between the "Project" and "L.A.A.M.;" NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises, the parties hereto covenant and agree as follows: 1. "Project"Agrees to: a. Work in conjunction with a food vendor to provide meals for the site. b. Inspect or make provisions for inspection of the meal site to insure the health and safety of the meal participants. c. Train volunteers to maintain necessary records, take meal reservations, and coordinate the scheduling of the volunteers. d. Allow social and educational activities to occur during the designated hours of the congregate meal program (10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) if the activities do not violate federal and state laws associated with the program and if the activities do not interfere with the process of registering and serving participants. e. Provide a copy or copies of menus as needed by "L.A.A.M." Page Two - "L. A. A. M." 1. "L. A. A. M." agrees that: a. Participants in the Weld County Senior Nutrition Meal Program are not required to be a member of"L. A. A. M." or to pay any additional fees for services provided by "L. A. A.M." b. Participants in the Weld County Senior Nutrition Program are not required to be a member of"L. A. A. M."to ride the Weld County Mini Bus. c. Meal cancellations will occur only on rare occasions and a meal cancellation must be coordinated with Weld County Senior Nutrition staff a minimum of 3 weeks in advance. Emergencies such as funerals are excepted. d. No food may be sold or distributed due to the potential dangers of food borne illnesses (this is a policy of both the Weld County Senior Nutrition Program and the City of Greeley Rodarte Center). e. All guests under the age of 60 (if not a spouse of a 60 plus) will pay the full cost of the meal by their own means. f. No meal site participant should be asked or required to pay any additional fees or make any additional donations to come to the site to eat a nutrition meal. g. Selling of raffle tickets or crafts is permitted, but is not the responsibility of nutrition site volunteers while they are volunteering for the nutrition program. Such sales should occur at table(s) placed away from the nutrition registration and serving line and manned by "L. A. A. M." volunteers, not Senior Nutrition Site Volunteers. h. Use and placement of Bulletin boards, banners and other materials will be coordinated with Rodarte Center staff and is not the responsibility of the Senior Nutrition Program. i. Birthday cakes and coffee are welcomed and encouraged. When such are served as part of the Senior Nutrition Program, all participants present are entitled to servings regardless of membership in the "L.A. A.M." j. Music and other recreational activities are encouraged, but are not the responsibility of the Weld County Senior Nutrition Program. Participants of the Weld County Senior Nutrition Program will have free choice as to what activities they want to participate in and support. Page Three - "L. A. A. M." k. Failure to respect the rules and regulations of the Weld County Senior Nutrition Program which is a federally funded program open to all older adults 60 years of age and older could result in the ultimate closure of the nutrition site.
