Attached to the tag was Vermeda Evans' business card. Hand written on the card was "6-7-01 — Will call & leave a message on the squrefootage. Thank You". I have not received a phone call or voice message in regards to the square footage. On July 1, 2001 I received a "Notice of Adjustment" in the mail regarding the appraisal after review. However, the letter is non-specific as to those adjustments. On July 10, 2001 I still had not received a message in regards to the square footage, thus, at 1055 I left a voice message on Vermeda Evans' phone. Another message was left on the same voice message machine on July 13, 2001 at 1012. To date I have not been able to reach Ms. Evans nor has she returned my phone calls. I am interested in resolving this issue without proceeding through the appeals process. However, there are issues that were not accurate on the initial appraisal that I was unable to address due to our appointment being cut short. To complicate the matter further, I have not been able to discuss this with Ms. Evans. Consequently, I am left with no recourse other then to appeal this to the County Board of Equalization. I am certain that this matter can still be resolved prior to meeting with the County Board of Equalization. Please contact me at the following number (303) 654-0998. Sessions—County Assessor Robert Masden - County Commissioner(3"d District) - Senator Marilyn Musgrave — State Senate The Honorable Pam Rhodes -- House of Representatives May 25, 2001 To whom it may concern: On May 23, 2001 at 1315 I met with residential appraiser Ms. Vermeda Evans to appeal my property tax appraisal. I came prepared to present evidence through comparable home sells as well as documentation as to a signed and binding construction contract. In addition, I had documentation proving that the square footage on the appraisal was incorrect by more than 200 square feet. When 1 presented this information to Ms. Evans, she made no effort to review it, take any notes or show any concern that there may have been any discrepancies involving the appraisal. I felt that this approach was extremely unprofessional. Our discussion continued and eventually Ms. Evans did state that she would attempt to re-measure the house. Following this statement I felt that I might be making some progress with presenting my case. Unfortunately, while continuing with my presentation Ms. Evans stated that she had to excuse herself for a 1330 appointment. She got up and left the room. Again, I felt that this was rude and unprofessional. Due to the unresponsive nature of our meeting 1 elected to mail in my appeal via certified mail. I also, respectfully request that either my wife or myself be present during the time of re- measurement due to the fact that some of the house is not assessable unless the garage is open and feel that this my be where the measurement error occurred. I am certain that the District Commissioners and those at the state level have more important matters to attend to for the county and state taxpayers. Thus, I feel that it is in the best interest of all parties involved to resolve this issue at the lowest possible level. Therefore, I am willing to discuss this in greater detail.
