The County and Roggen Elevator are interested in improving Weld County Road 24'/2 from its intersection with Weld County Road 73 easterly to the elevator property. This improvement would provide a safe substitute for the paved crossing closed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe. Included in the improvements are paving the roadway section (approximately 2000 feet)and a safer intersection alignment at Weld County Road 73. The work is estimated to cost $116,500. We are requesting the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad join with Weld County and Roggen Farmer's Elevator Association as equal partners to finance this improvement. Closing the previously noted crossing has created a transportation hardship for the elevator.Participating as an equal partner in this improvement project would indicate a positive spirit of cooperation on behalf of the railroad in our county.
