His name is Neil Argo, 29 Hwy 52, Lot #28,.Longmont, CO 80504. (located in Weld County). I am not certain of Mr. Argo's current age, I believe he is in his late 80's. He lives by himself in a camper trailer. In the last year or so, Mr. Argo's eyesight has become very limited because of cataracts. Therefore, he is unable to go very far from his trailer (like to get his mail, etc) and has not been able to shave in several months. He has not driven in at least 6 years. Mr. Argo does not have laundry facilities in his trailer and does not allow anyone to do his laundry for him. At one time, he was washing his laundry in the bathtub (very unsuccessfully). Currently, his clothes are in terrible disrepair. Torn and dirty-I don't believe he has a decent coat. If he does, he does not wear it. His granddaughter comes by once a week (though I haven't seen her in a week or so, maybe she stops by when I'm at work) to bring him a few small bags of groceries. I don't believe that Mr. Argo has been fixing any meals because of his lack of sight. The landlord has tried talking to his granddaughter about other living arrangements for Mr. Argo. Somewhere that could look after his health, make sure he's taking his medicine, taking a bath and having at least one good meal a day. The granddaughter says that she is "caught" between her mother and aunt and her grandfather and has no authority to help him. It is rumored that Mr. Argo has "some" money, so we are afraid that they will let him "rot away" in this trailer that is stuffed full of magazines & papers (not very fire safe for someone with-poor eyesight) and as you can imagine, smells horribly, instead of making arrangements for him-whether in their own house or in a facility. I am not certain if Mr. Argo has a telephone. He may have a cell phone but, if he is not able to see to shave, how will he be able to see the buttons on a cell phone to even call 911 if needed? I know that he has had some type of lung condition and should be taking medicine for it-is he? I don't know. The most he walks now is maybe 50 feet and that takes him close to an hour because he has to stop and rest because of the lung condition. Another neighbor found him outside lying on the ground one evening about 8:30. He had fallen down and was not able to help himself up. Luckily, the neighbor heard him and was able to help him into his trailer. I know you are wondering why we,as his neighbors, do not help him more. Over the years we have tried to help him, offered to do laundry, get groceries etc. and he would have nothing to do with that. In fact, was very obstinate (and sometimes obnoxious) about it. Therefore, we don't offer as much as we should. We all do watch and make sure that someone has seen him outside at some point during the week. If not, one of us or our landlord goes and checks on him. We are very horrified that his family is letting him live like this and can not see that he needs medical care, that he has lost a lot of weight, has skin cancers on his back, is lonely and is not safe living this way. Thank you for any assistance you can provide in this matter. Sincerely, Concerned neighbors. Cc: Weld Co Sheriff's Dept Weld Co Commissioners Weld Co Social/Human Resources Hello
